Pavlov, with his dogs and dinner bells etc, certainly proved that conditioning by instant outcome works. No-one that I am aware of has yet tried to train their dogs using the threat of future theoretical Dog Deity disapproval...

And if dogs do attempt to 'baptize' themselves, they're generally shouted at and punished for playing in the pond or the toilet anyway... a deity-fearing dog would be receiving some very mixed messages :) xVoodoo Spicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18128313140249739419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1685154745621076558.post-51081718514920630072013-06-19T00:19:33.384-07:002013-06-19T00:19:33.384-07:00A tour de force of a blog, Lisa. Not that I disagree with your direction since I was convent educated and still have difficulty taking the larger of 2 pieces of cake, let alone littering or nicking things. This is why I'm starting to write about mayhem, spite and murder! And as a psychologist I agree instant outcome of an act is the crucial thing, proven in conditioning experiments. And it seems some people are 'programmed' to take what they want by whatever means and we don't currently have a way of affecting that. Great post.
